Gemstone Celebrates Community Unity
Thanks to the Community Unity group at Gemstone Care Centre, residents and team members put their caring hands to work earlier this month to prepare sandwiches – lots of sandwiches – for the Love Hard Society. The Love Hard Society is a local Kamloops non-profit organization who hosted the recent For the Love of Food event to help some of the city’s most vulnerable by providing a community meal.
The Community Unity initiative at Gemstone was created by team members who are passionate about serving seniors and creating connections to the broader community. “We are proud of the generous spirit that lives among residents and team members at Gemstone, many of whom have lived in the Kamloops area their whole life and were thrilled to support the For the Love of Food event”, said Sandra Lewis, General Manager.
“This initiative is a great example of how we all work hard daily to create joy for residents through connections beyond ourselves”, said Mary McDougall, President. “Supporting initiatives that team members are passionate about, as well as working with non-profit organizations to support their success reflects our belief that we’re all on this journey of life together”.
