Celebrating Our First Year at Hamilton Village
So often in life, we get pulled along by the pace of living that we forget about the things that really matter. We overlook the joy that comes from the simple things of doing and being together. Thankfully through celebration, we stop to appreciate what has happened around us and most importantly, to acknowledge the people who have helped get us here.
On behalf of Hamilton Village Care Centre, thank you to everyone who has contributed to building this beautiful home for creating joy in life…by caring, connecting and celebrating! While today is about the first year anniversary since welcoming our first resident on May 15, 2020, it is also about the road travelled before that time which stems back to 2014.
Since day 1, Hamilton Village has been shaped, formed and built by people who truly care about making a difference. Cheers to the architect team led by Derek Crawford, who had a vision for the design from the beginning and to the builder, Doug Kasper and many skilled tradespeople who shared the value of quality construction. Thanks to Vancouver Coastal Health, the City of Richmond and to our neighbours for working together. There were many great moments with some challenges too, just like in life. Certainly the onset of a pandemic was an added twist and the start-up leaders stood strong led by Melissa, Tom, Jenny, Lia, Novies, Claudia, Garvin, Leanne, Dr. Ortiz and many more. The list of “hands” is very long and a huge heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you. Additionally, a very special thank you to the residents, families and friends who have joined us since opening bringing meaning to our work and create a home.
Please join me in a (virtual) toast to celebrating all of us – together. I’m very proud to be part of a connected community who has created something incredible. Congratulations Hamilton Village Care Centre on this special ‘one year’ milestone and cheers to many more great years of celebrating ahead!
